800 cc Silicone Implants
ABOUT THE PROCEDURE
When looking for large breast implants, you have two choices, silicone or saline. The largest silicone implants offered by Dr. Bandy are 800 cc’s, however with saline you can choose to go larger. Something to note; Dr. Bandy listens to her patients and will never go larger than the patient desires. She wants her patients to feel confident in the body of their dreams. During your consultation, be open with Dr. Bandy about your desires so you can have a surgical plan perfect for you.
Looking for something larger? To achieve a look with implants larger than 800 cc’s, Dr. Bandy will start by implanting 800 cc saline shells and overfilling them with saline to your desired look. For extra large implants, they are only done with saline, not silicone. Silicone implants are pre-filled and cannot be adjusted after they’ve been implanted. With saline implants, you can keep filling them as large as you want to go.
To achieve breast implants larger than 800 cc’s, it may take more than one procedure. It’s important to know, not everyone will need multiple surgeries, depending on your surgical plan, as discussed with Dr. Bandy, individual cases will vary. During the initial augmentation, Dr. Bandy will create a pocket, usually behind the muscle, and place a saline implant. Next, she will begin adding saline and she will fill the implants as large as your tissues will safely allow. Sometimes that means 700 cc’s or 1100 cc’s, it just depends on what your body can safely handle. The initial breast augmentation would need to be done under a general anesthesia.
During your consultation, Dr. Bandy might recommend placing the implants behind the muscle and adding extra sutures to the bottom of the pocket to provide enough support for the extra-large breast implants. In some cases, patients require placement of a dermal matrix to give additional support to their implants. These options are determined case by case and since it is an additional procedure and product, additional fees would apply.
AFTER INITIAL AUGMENTATION
After the initial augmentation, your body needs approximately 6 weeks to heal. At that point, if you want an overfill, you will have two options depending on your situation.
OVERFILL OPTIONS
The first option would be to enter through your same incision, find the fill port, and add more saline to the existing implants. This procedure can be done under a local anesthesia, however, if you are wanting to go significantly larger, it may require a capsulotomy.
The second option will involve Dr. Bandy opening up your internal pocket to allow for an expansion of the pocket for the additional saline to increase your implant size. This option would require a general anesthesia and give Dr. Bandy more control over how much saline she can add.
Since large breast implants are a specialized procedure, it’s important to do extensive research and make sure you are booking your procedure with a board certified plastic surgeon with experience on large breast implants.
