Renuvion Dr. Amy Bandy Newport Beach

Renuvion, also known as J-Plasma, is a skin-tightening treatment that addresses mild to moderate skin laxity. If you have lax skin on the abdomen, back, thighs, or calves, this treatment can diminish it for a more youthful-looking figure. Dr. Amy Bandy is a board-certified plastic surgeon with decades of expertise in transforming patients’ skin with customizable procedures that provide long-lasting results.

Dr. Bandy can reduce skin laxity by administering plasma-rich helium and radiofrequency beneath the skin, causing contractions that help create a smoother appearance. She can treat multiple areas during a single appointment to minimize downtime. Some patients also combine the treatment with liposuction to remove pockets of exercise-resistant fat. Dr. Bandy personalizes each of her procedures based on your unique needs and body goals so you can enjoy tighter, smoother body contours.

About Renuvion for Body

Sun exposure, stress, diet, and lifestyle habits can all affect the quality of your skin. When collagen and elastin–proteins in the skin that help it maintain its structure–start to decline with age, it is common to notice changes in the quality of the skin. (1) Renuvion is a desirable option for patients who wish to rejuvenate their appearance without the risk of anesthesia or long surgical scars. With a small incision and a tiny treatment wand, Dr. Bandy can apply plasma-rich helium and radiofrequency beneath the skin. The gentle energy causes the tissues beneath the surface of the skin to contract, allowing for fast-acting results while preserving the surrounding tissue to effectively address lax skin without damaging the surrounding area.

Renuvion and Liposuction

Although Renuvion can tighten your skin, it cannot remove pockets of excess fat that are affecting your figure. Liposuction removes pockets of fat with a thin cannula and gentle suction that preserves the surrounding tissue. Dr. Bandy can combine Renuvion with liposuction to help you balance your body proportions.

Liposuction can permanently remove targeted pockets of fat for a more defined figure. During a liposuction procedure, Dr. Bandy can make a small incision to inject tumescent fluid into the areas where excess fat is present. Tumescent fluid is injected into the treatment area to numb the tissue, reduce bleeding, and cause the fat cells to swell, which facilitates easier and safer removal during liposuction. Next, she can remove those cells with gentle suction, and you can return home to recover after a monitoring period.

Benefits

There are several benefits of Renuvion, including:

  • Minimally invasive procedure: Renuvion uses a combination of helium plasma and radiofrequency (RF) energy delivered via a small wand beneath the skin. The helium plasma rapidly heats the tissue, causing immediate contraction and also triggers new collagen formation over time.
  • Increased collagen production: By increasing the collagen levels in your skin, the treatment not only provides fast-acting results but also results that continue to improve over time.
  • Minimal downtime: The procedure requires minimal downtime compared to more invasive surgical procedures.
  • Customizable procedure: Dr. Bandy can adjust the treatment to target areas based on your personalized needs and goals.
  • Improved self-esteem: Many patients feel more confident about their appearance after the procedure.

Candidates

If you would like to tighten your skin for a more youthful look without the risk of long surgical scars and downtime, Renuvion might be the right treatment for you. Suitable candidates for Renuvion would like to:

  • Tone and tighten their skin
  • Improve their skin texture by reducing wrinkles
  • Reduce mild to moderate skin laxity

Personal Consultation

During your consultation, Dr. Bandy will ask about your aesthetic goals and examine your skin to determine the best treatment plan for your needs. Renuvion can help diminish mild to moderate laxity; if you have more extensive goals, she may recommend alternative procedures.

Preparation

To prepare for Renuvion, you will need to take good care of your skin in the weeks leading up to your treatment. If you experience skin damage, Dr. Bandy may need to delay your treatment until your skin heals. Take precautions by:

  • Avoiding sun exposure
  • Stopping blood-thinning medications and supplements (with medical supervision)
  • Refraining from smoking for several weeks

Procedure

We recommend that you wear comfortable clothing on the day of your treatment. First, our team will cleanse your skin and administer anesthesia. Dr. Bandy will cleanse the treatment area with tumescent fluid– a combination of lidocaine, saline, and epinephrine. She will make a thin incision and insert a wand to administer the plasma-rich helium and radiofrequency beneath the skin, causing the underlying tissues to contract. The energy also generates heat and triggers collagen production (neocollagenesis). She takes care to make discreet incisions that will be easy to conceal.

After Your Treatment

After a Renuvion treatment, you can return home immediately afterward. However, you will need to rest and avoid sun exposure. The treatment does not require a lengthy recovery period, and you will only need a few days of downtime afterward.

It is common to experience some swelling or bruising after the treatment, and some patients experience temporary redness while the skin heals. If you do experience discomfort afterward, you can easily alleviate it with a cold compress and over-the-counter medication.

Results

Renuvion Dr. Amy Bandy Newport Beach

Although your results will depend on the treatment area, you may notice firmer, more youthful-looking skin after Renuvion. Results tend to improve over time, as collagen production is gradual.

Additional Treatments

In addition to Renuvion or J-Plasma, Dr. Bandy offers other effective minimally invasive treatments that can help address different areas of the body.

CoolSculpting

CoolSculpting is a noninvasive body sculpting treatment that can help reduce pockets of excess fat for a smoother, more athletic figure. With a hand-held device, Dr. Bandy can freeze the excess fat cells (cryolipolysis) to alter their structure. She can sculpt your body and enhance your muscle definition without long surgical scars or anesthesia. Your body will flush them out through your lymphatic system. We use a topical anesthetic for your comfort, and you can return home immediately afterward.

Non-surgical Facelift

A non-surgical facelift is a collection of treatments that diminish signs of facial aging for a smoother, more youthful complexion. As you age, it is common to experience wrinkles, fine lines, and volume loss. With a nonsurgical facelift, we can restore lost volume with dermal fillers– injectable treatments that add natural-looking volume to your skin without creating an “overfilled” appearance. We can also perform nonsurgical facial rejuvenation treatments such as microneedling– a treatment that increases the collagen levels in your skin with tiny needles that penetrate the skin barrier. To learn more about the different options for nonsurgical facelifts, see the blog.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a skin rejuvenation treatment that increases the elasticity of your skin and strengthens your skin barrier with growth factors. (2) If you’re concerned about fine lines, wrinkles, or acne scars, Dr. Bandy can reduce their appearance without synthetic substances. By extracting the nutrients from a sample of your own blood, Dr. Bandy can create a treatment that helps your body generate new cells. During the treatment, she will draw a small sample of blood and purify it in a centrifuge to extract the plasma. She can administer it beneath the skin barrier to help your body create new cells for a more radiant, youthful complexion.
